What is a person's respite to their uninhibited needs? What makes us human? I found this answer asking it - (to myself.) There really is no other way. So here is my attempt: the "me" as in doing this as a philosophical end.
What makes a person neurotic is not a fear based reality. It is a penchant for misplacing yourself as a victim to fate. I will rephrase this in another way: in all my life experiences, I have never trusted myself in a way that explicitly indicated my personal vulnerability as a threat to no one. (This is a fact I am most proud of.) Never to cop out on motive in favor, that guilt, precedes the human condition. This is an element of facing fear. A grievance to something far greater than most are aware. This is made of 2 equal parts:
1- The disposition one takes, when they don't get what is wanted, makes one feel deprived. Deprived of something beyond control.
2- This is a measure of wisdom, indicating you consciously being aware of yourself before pronouncing a suicidal type of crisis. (Existential)
Conclusion: To be aware of yourself is the greater good. This causal method, promotes free thinking.
What free thinking? It is a contest of your choice. What is right in history.
