I'm not sure what the saddest thing in life could be.
But if I did know.
If I did know - I would say it's the death of music.
(Not death itself.)
But that to say if the day a person dies.
The music that you once heard would cease.
That is a tragedy.
Yet, to think about the reality of life.
In understanding how little takes the edifice of one's departure unknown to you.
That if death. . . if not just a departure of beliefs.
And that those beliefs you held no longer took the shape of your body.
In surrendering how to think.
How to think - think about those that fail to care the same way you do.
How automatically dead they are to me.
This must be what death feels like.
And it never escapes you.
Beliefs can be powerful.
A powerful source of confusion.
If death's mortal coil comes knocking.
What'd I hope be left is music.
Nothing more.
