Random thought: will a confession absolve guilt, in your opinion?

That is a great question. Confession in religious context is a consent of sin not that which absolves guilt, because in practice you are admitting to a cause of personal intent. If you're an idiot, you admit to murdering someone. But if done in private you no longer need to be absolved? The result of confession is to meditate on forgiveness. If you have the courage. Then do you reset. And you admit to the act.
Such can be said. Said for a varying degree of guilt and intent.
If you are in reservation of having been racist, for example, to that end - not as foul as Murdering someone. But to purge oneself into admitting their wrongdoing, confession is the ultimate test of will.

I suppose my educated understanding is we all already would agree that murder is wrong. However, when under the confession of guilt, does what I infer as the element of confession whereby the intent is to purge ourselves of fear, remorse, shame or guilt actually rid us of the evidence we are at fault. If we are at fault or not stems from a personal virtue which I would call on as arriving at all degrees of logic. What one would forbid themselves to do may not be a connection to their guilt. In fact, the truth is in only what, as you've stated, is a point of direction to something we don't know. I like to think of myself in that sense, that I don't know what direction I am heading. Many words come to mind. Such as rules based theory, where if I break the law. Where is the moral code broken if I object, where my objectionable conduct under rules based theory falls to there being a reason for my actions. This takes on a personal self reflection altogether.
Friedrich Nietzsche warns you, saying:
"Do not fall victim to excessive idealism and believe that telling the truth will bring you closer to people. People love and reward those who can soothe them with illusions. Since ancient times, humanity has only punished those who speak the truth. If you want to stay among people, share their illusions. The truth is spoken only by those who are ready to depart."
