the reverse psychology of a nihilist

"From his perspective, we are always "too late" because the process of decay has already begun."

^ I believe that interpretation is a simplistic view to what I think is Cioran's built in, reverse psychology to the nihilist. What is the futility of man himself. An ego that manifests but wills itself onward. To invert this (using reverse psychology) is to show us that man's superficial aims are locked underneath his purpose to open the door out into a world made for himself only. This psychological inversion is a deepening sense, impediment on man's cowardice which he would never doubt. Even if it means the irony of suicide would somehow end what man loves to evade in his pursuit of it. Pursuit of things that make us look foolish if we were honest with ourselves.
