I don't really know how to drop an adequate written word to sum up how much this movie brought me enjoyment. That much is the puzzling truth about this film...
However, not that the film wasn't enjoyable (it oddly was) because Seven Veils had some deeply ambitious themes throughout it.
I learned about my new found appreciation for what goes into an Operatic production. Not something I would be nornally intent on. But Atom Egyon does a great job incorporating the genre into cinematic operation. Which some may or may not deem as impressive.
Amanda Seyfried is a joy to watch.
I really did see a different side to Seyfried 'the actress' which I admired in her character portrait. She gave an above average performance, which in my objective mind as a trained actor... I observed a lot of contentious acting with contrived performances from the other actors in this dynamic between characters. The character fiction works (don't get me wrong) but Seyfried stands alone throughout the film itself. As the plot gravitated to her specific scenes, I don't know if that was to create an specific choice (between actors) or to serve the action artistically speaking. Perhaps, it is a signature move by Egyon, as his creative license upon receiving this film in its entirety.
