The Watchmaker

 What if you were found on your death bed,

Hearing only Jesus whispering in your ear...
I want to die with you.
Is that because you right then and there...
Came to the very real realization,
That what Jesus could have meant
Before meeting his untimely crucifixion:
Come.
Come die with me.
I want you to die with me.
And rather than think twice about it...
It was Jesus who edited what he truthfully thought.
So instead of what he wanted to say,
The gospel unwilfully proclaims:
I will have died for your sins.
So in spite of the message,
What he really wanted to teach us
Was belonging to a message of life before death.
That - that his death nor ours is not abject.
Die with him.
Now die with me.
And so we did.
No whisper back.
